another unhealthy love...

the gentlemen of Fleet Foxes are incredibly talented. i haven't heard anything that beautiful in a long time. they catagorize their music as "baroque harmonic pop jams"... if that narrows it down for you.
Pieter Bruegel the Elder's painting "Netherlandish Proverbs" graces the cover of their self-titled album. you should set aside a good 20 minutes to look at the details.

it's official...

i have finally found the woodworking project of a lifetime. here is my inspiration:i never thought a piece of furniture could be so damn sexy. well done Atocha Design. problem is, though that piece is impeccable i don't want to pay $12,500 for it. i am going to make my own version.
maybe poplar with a green stain?

always been a sucker for good fashion...

the new TopShop is opening in Soho in a couple months and i am grateful to be living in Maine. otherwise, there would be some issues because i have an unhealthy love for London style.
here were some of my favorites:

wowie...

it's been a while.
here is something that i want to share so badly i'm practically tearing up. running through my head of all of my NYC friends i thought, "who would want something this cool?" and the answer is: all of them. problem is they're always moving.

Ork Posters!

nothing has been really catching my eye in the craigslist furniture section these past couple days... until today! it's such a horrible picture but if you look past the ridiculousness can you see the fantastic bureau?

i love it. some plants and colorful prints, a white opal lamp with a change dish. what would you do with it?
i certainly wouldn't buy the gun cabinet next to it. yes... they're also selling a gun cabinet.

nifty news...

i moved!

well, i'm in the process of moving. i have been moving for 3 days now. turns out i have way more stuff than i thought. especially books, which, not a good thing to have plenty of when you move around as much as i do. books are heavy. someday when i have my own house--
hahahha. right. *sigh*.... anyways, someday when i have my own house--

i want built-in bookshelves. with installed lighting. and a tall Hagrid-esque individual as my librarian. i digress: here are some pictures of my new bedroom! (prepare yourselves)

where most people would see an abomination of bad 70's & 80's style, i see an opportunity. i am paying very low rent for the area. there is an ocean view from my window, it's a dog friendly environment and the girls are really nice.
when you don't have a lot of money it's all about laughing at what you have to live with and making the best of it.
the best part about this apartment- i can decorate and paint to my heart's content. of course i'll be careful of the girls i live with (no crazy wallpaper!) but when you have an old apartment like this there is more opportunity to be creative and budget-minded. i find it all very exciting!
not to mention the landlord will reimburse me for paint and repair costs.
i'll make sure to document the progress with the room (the pink shag rug and charcoal walls are out of here).

i must say...

sex and the city movie
ah, what the heck. i expected no less than over-the-top glitz and glamour for the infamous Sex and the City movie. i think what made me sad about it was the glitzy dialogue. where on earth did the sassy 2nd season girls go?
